Getting TO/AROUND: By and Large the Camino de Santiago route is both Well Sign-Posted and on Well Maintained Paths, However there is still the Occasional section that you have to take Great care on -- By Far the Worst on the entire route was this section where you were routed down the side of a Motorway !!!! I think that someone should have a definite re-think on this section -- It put the fear of God into me !!!

Getting TO/AROUND: The Camino de Santiago splits into two just after the town of Villafranca del Bierzo and I would Recommend that you take the High Level Route via Pradela, Although this route is slightly Longer and considerably Higher it is Well Worth the Extra Effort involved !!! The Views are Awesome and it avoids having to walk along the side of the road for some 27k !!!

Getting TO/AROUND: After you have finished your walk comes the Question of how to get back home once more !! We first had to make our way back to Bilbao to catch the return leg of our flight with easyjet back to London -- so how to get back to Bilbao from Santiago de Compostella an Interesting way !!!??? Our Answer was to first catch a bus to Ferrol and from there take the FEVE Trail All the way along the North Coast of Spain back to Bilbao -- This takes two days but I will give this trip the BIGGEST of Recommendations -- it Is Fantastic !!!!!!!!! The Train Journey is called " The Camino de Costa " and the trip takes you through Wonderful Countryside in Comfort and at a Very reasonable cost too !!!! A Brilliant way to end your Trip !!!!

betako3 Sun Mar 23, 2008 21:19 UTC Wow! That must have been an experience. Camino has recently become quite popular in Poland too. I remember quite a few articles about it in various newspapers and magazines. Congratulations on completing the pilgrimage even if it was 4y.ago :) ! | newyorkerman Fri Jul 27, 2007 19:18 UTC Thanks for the terrific and detailed description of the Camino. It's obvious that you enjoyed this walking tour. The cathedral is, no doubt, quite lovely. Thanks for a great vicarious experience. |
