Off The Beaten Path: STORMS RIVER BRIDGE.
  • Tip Rating:
  • Storms River Bridge is in the famous Garden Route, this trail leads through beautiful coastal and forest scenes, as well as various waterfalls, streams and rivers. It is a very popular day-trip, because the camp-site is booked full at least one year in advance!
An eco-destination par excellence, even the road here leads through indigenous forests, breathtaking scenery and awesome beauty.
There are various amenities, including a restaurant, shop, chalets, camp site and caravan park, information centre, the Agulhas lookout platform, trees marked with their national tree list numbers and underwater trails.

The main attractions include a waterfall, Guano Cave, views of the coastline, Storms River mouth, scrub and dry forest types, rich birdlife and an intertidal zone sea life. The first part of the route can be slippery when wet.

    Off The Beaten Path: ADVENTURES.
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • For the adrenalin pumping adventure seekers there are 4x4 trails, skydiving, gliding, fly-fishing, canoeing, water sports etc.

Favourable weather conditions, rocky terrain and vast open spaces combined with an array of world-class facilities, makes the Cape Winelands an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise. The Breede River is one of only a hand full of perennial rivers in South Africa suitable for year-round paddling. Various activities can be enjoyed, such as wine tasting canoe trips, extreme kayaking in its northern reaches where rapids go up to grade 5, to less strenuous grade 2 rafting expeditions downstream. With its majestic towering mountain ranges, the Winelands is a rock climbing, abseiling and kloofing haven. Climbs vary in difficulty, ranging from not to steep grade 10’s to seriously challenging grade 30’s.
