  • Embark on a noble safari to an outpost of tented romance.Gorah, the first private concession in a National Park, is a premier camp set in 14,000ha malaria free sanctuary, home to the densest elephant population on earth.

    Things To Do: ROBBEN ISLAND.

  • South Africa - ROBBEN ISLAND ENTRANCE.
  • ROBBEN ISLAND ENTRANCE.

  • Robben Island, today a symbol of democracy and the refusal of the human spirit to be broken, has had a turbulent and troubled past.

For the past 400 years Robben Island has existed as a fort , mental asylum , leper colony and prison for POW'S (prisoners of war), Muslim, Khoi and African leaders who resisted first the early settlers then later the Apartheid Government.

Declared a World Heritage Site in December 1997, the island now boasts a very informative museum.
There is a guided tour through the Maximum Security Prison, a chance to see Nelson Mandela's cell and an opportunity to interact with some of the former inmates who have now made Robben Island their home.

These are just some of the experiences that make this short 30 minute journey from the V&A Waterfront by boat a must see.

This is where Nelson Mandela spent part of his life as a political prisoner in the apartheid era before being released in 1994 to become the president of South Africa.

    Things To Do: TABLE MOUNTAIN.
  • Tip Rating:
  • Gracing the cover of thousands of magazines, post cards and coffee table publications, Table Mountain is one of the most widely recognized symbols of South Africa.

The summit undoubtedly provides the best view of Cape Town and the surrounds, and has some fantastic vantage points at the top of the mountain as well as along the 2 kilometres of paths and hiking trails on the way up, for those who enjoy hiking.

The upgraded cable way system with its rotating gondolas provides an unobstructed 360 - degree view of the ocean and mountain as one ascends gently to the upper stationand is a really worthwhile experience.

On those wonderfully calm, clear, warm summer evenings there is one thing that all who visit Cape Town should enjoy, and that is a sun - downer at one of the vantage points perched peacefully high above the hustle and bustle of the Mother City.

Things To Do: THE WINE ROUTE
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Cape winelands are situated on either side of the Hottentot Holland Mountains which lie to the north and east of Cape Town. A Mediterranean climate, plentiful water and fertile valleys provide ideal conditions for vineyards and orchards to flourish.
Graceful Cape Dutch architecture, a history that dates back to the 17th century, and over 100 varieties of wine are some of the areaŭs attractions.
