Adelaide is very pretty, being surrounded on all four sides by parks and retaining lots of old heritage buildings. It's often described as a very liveable city because of its size (you can walk from one side to the other without wrecking your day...or your feet!) its diverse range of entertainment and its exceptional food and wine at amazing prices. You definitely wont dine this well for these prices in the eastern states.

Adelaide has often been the brunt of jokes from its bigger sister cities Sydney and Melbourne, and for a while it suffered from a bout of 'small city syndrome'. But under this was brewing a subculture of cool clubs, skateboarding, digital media and the arts (particularly in the west end of town), and now Adelaide has a distinctly laid-back, cool demeanour. Tap into this part of the city and you'll appreciate it in a whole new way.
