This has to be easily one of my favourite places to walk around in Europe. Everything is just so gorgeous around here. This was the summer residence of Frederick II of Prussia. Here he wanted to live "without cares" (sans souci). For the next 30 years he continued to work and expand the park. Throughout the years a few other German Royalties claimed residence here up in to 1945. In 1945 the Great Three (Stalin, Truman, and Churchill) in the Anti-Hitler held their third and final meeting here known as the Potsdam Conference. Unfortunately the park was not properly taken care during the Soviet period. It is still magnificant and it is a good day trip from Berlin and it is in Potsdam. |
