Rexall Place - Province of Alberta

Rexall Place

Rexall Place

Home to the Edmonton Oilers. It has gone throughout various name changes in the last couple of years but it still is an Edmonton landmark. The main reason to visit is to see an Oiler game or a practise during hockey season. It also holds various other sporting events like monster truck rallies and I have even seen a NBA exhibition game there. On the northside there is a statue of Wayne Gretzky for the fans of his. There is a LRT station (subway station) right next to it for ease of access.

Address: 7424-118 avenue

Commonwealth Stadium - Province of Alberta

Commonwealth Stadium

Commonwealth Stadium

The home of the Edmonton Eskimoes and Canada's national soccer stadium is the Commonwealth Stadium. For a true Albertan experience try attending an Eskimo game her late in the football season when it's snowing and everyone is huddled up in blankets. They often hold concerts here and even in 2003 it held an outdoor NHL hockey game with the Edmonton Oilers vs. Montreal Canadians. On the southside of the stadium there is a fitness center if you want to workout. There is a LRT station to the east side of the stadium for ease of access.

Address: 11000 Stadium Rd.

Calgary Flames - Province of Alberta

Calgary Flames

Calgary Flames

The Calgary Flames are a National Hockey League team located in, well, Calgary. They were originally located in Atlanta, Georgia in 1972 then moved to Calgary in 1980. They play out of Pengrowth Saddledome which is located close to downtown and has excellent connections to public transportation. The flames have so far won one Stanley Cup in 1989 and have came close other times. The Flames logo is a "C" with flames coming from it and has basically remained unchanged since it's first use. Harvey the Hound is the franchise's mascot and was the first mascot in the NHL. Since I'm an Edmonton Oiler fan, the Flames have been my traditional enemy but I still like to see them do well. As long as it's not against the Oilers.
