I really didn't know what to expect from this tiny little island. Rodrigues is often described as "Mauritius 30 years ago." This might be true when referring to the level of tourism and exploitation but that's about it. Rodrigues is really quite a dry and almost kind of empty for lack of a better word. The people are a lot more relaxed and seem friendlier and not the fake type of friendliness you find with tourist hot spots. If you want to get away from the mass tourism this is the perfect answer. It is quite off the beaten path. There are facilities for tourists but it still needs to develop quite a bit. Rodrigues is not the typical perfect undiscovered paradise but it is a perfect place to get away from the masses to relax.
