Before this trip, we had been to Mexico twice and to Spain. Spanish speaking destinations seemed to be of more interest to me. To be quite honest, I had no interest at all in Asia.
When Zo Ann was at our travel agent's arranging for a trip to Costa Rica, he casually slipped her a brochure for Bali - 14 nights there with 3 nights in Hong Kong. Well, the numbers no longer added up, and this tour was much cheaper than the trip we had been planning.
So, long story short, we made a trip the mystic island, Costa Rica would just have to wait (unfortunately, it still is).

Pros and Cons

Pros:Very beautiful place, friendly people
Cons:When you step onto the street, you're shopping
In a nutshell:Culture clashes with consumerism, but we would definitely return

Hello, was in Bali last month. Have to agree with you, everything in Bali is so cheap, if you know how to bargain! I came back with an extra bag. A bag I bought in Ubud to for my souveniers! *LOL*
