JOBAN Highway - Japan

JOBAN Highway

KEEP YOUR LANE!!!!

Don't get distracted by the beauty of sunsets. You are driving in a Japanese highway and even when the speed limit is heavily enforced (100 km/h in the fastest sections *smile*), ALL the automotors -- 5-10 ton trucks included-- run at that speed. Keep your lane, use your back mirror, fasten your belt, pay your taxes, brush your teeth, etc, etc...

Higways are going to be expensive. Stop whining. And yes... In Japan we drive on the wrong side. All those psycotics driving against the "normal direction" (your direction!!!) have the law on their side... (-;

Jam and pancakes - Japan

Jam and pancakes

Complainig about traffic JAMS?!!!!

I have heard the phase "bumper to bumper" many times in many big cities of the World (the "free" World of course. The slave World can not afford traffic jams yet). Japan is not an exception. Read well, I am not using the term big city of Japan. I said Japan. No matter where, no matter when if you want to experience the vertigo of the bumper-to-bumper traffic jams... drive, baby, drive.

JINRIKISHA - Japan

JINRIKISHA

JINRIKISHA

In old days -not so old considering the thousands years of Japanese History- they would pull the car long distances to take you to inverosimile destinations. It was the begining of the Meiji Era -middle XIX century- and this "taxi" system was used for foreigners coming to Japan to show how a great society can become puritan (no more mixed public baths!!!) or how to deal with internal problems invading and making war to neighboor countries... The name of the vehicle passed to West. Later on karate, geisha, harakiri and fujiyama would follow....

You can have a flavor of JINRIKISHA in major touristic spots... The one pictured here was taken in Yokohama's Chinatown.

BTW, Yokohama is not in Aomori-ken . It is in Kanagawa Prefecture. Geographic Auction$!!!!
