The hot springs with high content of sulphur found in this picturesque town have attracted visitors since Roman Empire times, when they were called the Thermae Pannoniae, or perhaps earlier but there are not records of that. From 1945 - year when the Second Worl Word ended- to 1955 - 4 year before I was born- , Baden became Head Quarters for the the Soviet military headquarters stationed in Austria.

The hot springs with high doses of sulphur found in this gracious town have attracted visitors since the Roman Empire time, and perhaps earlier but there are not records of that. Baden holds a special place in Austrian history since Emperor Francis I chose this town for his Imperial summer residence between 1814 to 1834, in other words, during 20 years.. Artists, intellectuals as well as the so-called "good society" followed him.

Interesting ! Been only 2 Baden 4 a couple of hours, mainly shopping, some say there's nothing much but you still managed to write some useful tips here... next time I should try d baths and the spas ;)
