i spent a total 0f 28 hours in this pit of a place and saw a murder and then nearly got mugged in a dive called the greyhound station from hell. 3pm in the afternoon down the road from the hi hostel a guy decides to shoot a guy at point blank range outside the macdonalds, i was about 5 feet away as the guy hit the floor, lets just say memphis some days later felt safer and thats a pit too.
- Pros:capitol hill and great buildings
- Cons:lots of psycho homeless bums
- In a nutshell:never ever would i go there again

i'm not a huge fan of washington DC, either, but i've only been down there recently for protests. it's always fun to walk by some fat cats screaming GO HOME COMMIE BASTARDS at you. (isn't it about 50 years too late for that to be insulting anymore??)
The area of the Greyhound station is not the best.. I went there twice by Greyhound and no one bothered me.. horrible initiation to an otherwise wonderful city. I spent 2 months there and loved it!
that sounds like johannesburg station , you need eye`s on the back of your head ...........ken
All Greyhound stations were pretty scary to me.... Seems like u had a really bad time in Washington, which is usually described as a wonderful city... Guess people tend to ignore or forget, sometimes simply pretend not to see, bad things.... Great page!
So sorry to hear this. Washington DC is one of my favorite places, had 3 most amazing days there. I enjoy politics (though I mostly disagree with what's going on nowadays).
let see. i go to d.c about twice a month now for 3 years..spent weeks there at a time.. and did not see anything like your trip.. guess you were just lucky :) Now if you have a complaint about D.C traffic.. hmm well I can relate LOL
I recomend stay away from the grayhound in general, unless it is the canine one. Hope the rest of your travels are lighter.
that's too bad...dc is a beautiful city but it does have that ugly side, i guess.
