Sweaty in Acapulco

Acapulco Postcard
Acapulco is an older resort town than say Puerto Vallarta or other popular Mexican coastal tourist destinations, its glory days were earlier on many others, I believe.

All around its bay shoreline is the touristy Americanized strip, with huge hotels and all. It is very long, though it does not appear long. I understand that it is about seven miles from one side of the bay to the other, across the water! (Correct me if I am wrong!) When you take a bus from say Walmart (near the upper end of the bay) to the other end (where the main plaza / centro is) it is a good hour give or take. What you see on the ring-around-the-bay (the name of the roadway is La Costera) is totally different from what you see if you venture away from the Costera into real Acapulco. Be careful for sure especially if you do not know Spanish.

It was in Acapulco that I swam in the ocean for the first time in my life!! The first place I ever saw the ocean was in Chile in 2000. But here I swam in it.
Me in Acapulco
I took a 2-week Certification course to teach english to speakers of spanish in Acapulco.

Here I am with the huge bay behind as the backdrop. We hiked way up into a barrio somewheres behind the main plaza and were rewarded with great views of the bay on one side and ocean on the other.
People in the Plaza on a Sunday Afternoon
The Main Plaza of Acapulco is a very shaded one with big ol' trees hovering over. All kinds of people can be seen hanging around here. The shade offers a break from the heat of the sun although still you sweat, no matter where you go :)

Pros:"Full of Photographic Opportunities. Also, there's a Walmart, if you need :)"
Cons:"If you don't have air conditioning where you're staying, you'll need fans and you will be sweating no matter how you try to keep cool."
