La Catedral de Los Angeles

Puebla is known for its numerous churches (cathedrals).

This huge cathedral, La Catedral de Los Angeles, has very huge bells. Legend says that while the bells had been so huge and heavy that no one was able to lift them to their place in the bell towers, angels came and lifted them into place. Around the perimeter of the cathedral yard atop each of the metal fence posts are small angel figures.

Inside, it is quite dim in lighting, maybe not the best smell, and for me almost seemed more like a museum since along the sides are so many (i'm not sure how to describe it)-- shrine-like rooms closed off and locked-up jail-like doors. It's very large and the architecture is quite something, I enjoyed looking at the architecture.

At the Universidad de Las Americas en Puebla

A long time ago, campus buildings and grounds used to be part of an hacienda. If you don't know what an hacienda is, look up some Latin American history. :) The grounds are very nicely landscaped with lots of flowerbeds, bushes, foliage, and some statues or art pieces. I saw one huge flowerbed that was just roses! Ay, I said if I could, I'd bring it home to my Mom.
