London Off the Beaten Path Tips by Callavetta

London is a walking City and at some point your feet are just plain likely to give out! What to do? Hop aboard one of the double decker busses and just let it take you to the end of it's route. You are likely to find yourself in areas completely outside if the normal tourist areas and see Londoners as they live their daily life.

We took a trip over the Thames and in neighoods on the South side, through streets and shopping areas where there were no tourists. From the comfort of a bus seat you can observe people coming and going in their normal lives; shopping, eating, visiting with neighbors.

Whether you are taking your quiet time in Green Park, St. James Park, one of the block size parks scattered all over the City, or just a tiny square in the middle of buildings, London offers visitors plenty of chances to take a load off and stop and smell the roses.

Readers of The DaVinci Code will delight in finding The Temple Church. Remember the search for the Knights' Effigies and the mad rush to find the Holy Grail?

On a recent trip, after reading the book, my daughters and I went on a mad search for the Temple Church. It wasn't easy to find! Nestled inside of a huge office complex in Legal London, just getting off the Tube at Temple Stop wasn't enough! And when we did find it we found another reader of the book waiting there with us for the church to open!

There are eight Knight Effigies in the Temple Church.

If you see the movie The Da Vinci Code you will recognize these effigies as the spot where Tom Hanks and Audry Tatou went in search of the Holy Grail. Nope, not here!
