"Dehradun... our staying place for IIT Rookee" Dehra Dun by Callavetta

My colleagues had just been in Dehradun 5 months before and were shocked to find the brand new spanking airport terminal. India is building infrastructure faster than you can imagine these days.

The airport is about 40 minutes from the actual town and our driver took the back road to avoid traffic. What kind of traffic could be so bad out here in the "country". I was getting a baptism in India road trips! Honking, passing, passing, honking... bullock carts, bicycles, pedestrians, motorbikes with several passengers, more honking, more passing. We zipped through farmlands, pastures, rice fields, and pass school yards with kids sitting neatly in rows on the ground outside, listening to their teachers.

The town was crowded and off in the distance are the mountains. We dropped our bags and headed up to Mussoori, a distant hill station.
