Small Wonders

It seems like a tiny town at the end of the world, placed against the boundary of the U.S. and Canada, you see sprinklings of Canadian inhabitants turned U.S. Citizens, and the dialect is thick, true Mainer whereever you look. People are somewhat skeptical of strangers and visitors, but once you get to know them, they can be like family. I lived there from 1980 - 1984 and throughly enjoyed cross country skiing, sledding and even some motorcycle riding in the summer there. Its perpetually cold there most of the year, watch out for the snow snakes and keep a block heater handy for your car! Its hilly terrain, and is not far from the northern end of the Appalachian Trail. Moose abound and can sometimes be found standing their ground on the highways staring down the unsuspecting motorist! Do not challenge them!
