Putrajaya, a place I call home | Have Backpack, Will Travel |
Hello! My name is Mahzan and I live in Putrajaya, Malaysia. Putrajaya is located along the South Growth Corridor which houses the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC). Physically, the MSC covers a 15 by 50 sq km area which begins with the Kuala Lumpur City Centre in the north and extends to KL International Airport at Sepang in the south.
E-mail me for any backpackers information on Malaysia. Visit the oldest rainforest, the tallest building, the largest flower and taste the some of most delicious food in the world - satay, yong tau foo, banana leaf rice, nasi lemak, roti canai, charred koay teow, nasi kerabu, air tapai, and the list goes on..... |

| | I have covered about 30+ countries in all six continents (on shoestrings, of course). Each country is unique, and each country will give you an idea what this world is all about. There is always something for me to learn, and something that will make me appreciate with the things that I have now. |
| | Putrajaya Bridges I love bridges and there are about ten bridges in Putrajaya, and each of them has different designs and characters. Putra Bridge is considered as the most prestigious bridge in Putrajaya. The bridge connects the Government Precinct (precinct 1) and the Mixed Development Precinct (Precinct 2). The bridge's architecture is based on Islamic architecture which is similar to the Khaju Bridge at Esfahan, Iran. The bridge is divided into two levels, the Upper level - which is part of the Putrajaya Boulevard that connects to the Dataran Putra and the Prime Minister's Office Complex; and Lower level - which is used for a service tunnel, LRT, roads and pedestrians. |
| | Seri Bakti Bridge The bridge is located at the north-east corner of Putrajaya and is part of the protocol route. The bridge spans across the lake, the Promenade and links the Government Precinct (Precinct 1) on the north to Precinct 16 on the south. The bridge carries a dual two-lane carriage-way of 9 metres width each. A median width of 2 metres and a walkway/cycle track width of 2.5 metres are designed for this bridge. |
| | Seri Gemilang Bridge This bridge provides direct linkage between Precinct 5 and Precinct 4. It has been classified as an "identity bridge" and is designed to evoke a strong sense of visual character, recognition and identity. An example of an "identity bridge" is the Port Alexandre III which crosses the River Seine in Paris, sounds familiar? |
| | Seri Perdana Bridge From the Government Precinct, Seri Perdana Bridge provides a lake crossing to the residential neighborhoods of Precinct 8, 9 (where I live) and 10 across the man-made Putrajaya Lake. It will also perform the primary function of carrying traffic and utilities across the lake crossing. |
| | Seri Saujana Bridge The bridge will be the main entrance to the Commercial Precinct from the western residential area in Precinct 7. The concept of the cable stayed arch bridge is designed for Seri Saujana bridge. The design emphasises on the aesthetics of the structure and its relationship with the morphology of the surroundings, the structural stability, low maintenance cost, and the riding quality on the bridge deck. |
| | Seri Wawasan Bridge This is my favourite. The bridge is designed to link Precinct 8 and the Mixed Development Precinct in the Core Island. Due to its highly visible location, the bridge can create a very strong impression of Putrajaya. The bridge draws its inspiration from a sailboat. It comprises a single span of 240m long supported by stay cables anchored at the other end to a forward leaning concrete pylon. A combination of cable backstays and structural steel tie back in two planes provides equilibrium to the structure. |
