My advise to those who visit Crete - forget about spending a few days on there. You have at least a week to spend on Crete. It is simply too big and too mutli-dimensional to breeze in and out of for a couple days!

Please SAVE greek paradise!!!!!!!

My first trip to Crete was in august 2003. Full of emotions, surprises and heavenly beaches where we could be almost alone - that's how this island met me... In august 2006 I have visited Crete island one more time looking forward to find the same paradise... Just 3 years passed and I have discovered another Balos beach, Chryssi island, Falassarna beach... wild and clean just a few years ago, today it totally took by tourists and transformed into the dump of plastic bottles and bags.... Tears were close seeing all this.... PLEASE FIND JUST A BIT OF RESPECT! SAVE GREEK PARADISE!!!!!

Probably Greek tourists, who take their gorgeous beaches for granted. Milos, with mostly Greek tourists, had rubbish piles on the beaches. My efforts to clean up Greece were seen as a joke. Greeks have to take responsibility for preserving Greece.

Hi Lilasel, It was nice to see your photographs of Crete - we had a beautiful holiday there a couple of years ag. Sorry to see the 'Lost Paradise' shots though - it's a shame when people ruin perfection.
