Plastira Lake

The artificial lake of Tauropou or Plastira, lies a few kilometers outside of Karditsa, in a plateau of unique beauty. The surrounding area is verdurous, full of oak trees, sycamores and firs.
The Plastira Lake is a perfect place for vacations under the condition that the visitors show adequate respect to the environment.
The tour around the lake is an amazing experience, as the main route takes you to impressive places.

Corinth Canal

If you're travelling from Attica to Peloponessos you have to go over the Corinth Canal. Make a stop and walk across the old bridge. The canal is amazing.

Started by the Emperor Nero in 67 AD and completed by a French company in 1893, the canal is 6 km long and cut through solid rock. If you will be lucky there you'll see a ship passing through while you're on the bridge.

Ahaia

Prefecture of Ahaia has two sides to visit: the coast side villages with the exceptional beaches and the mountains with forests full of chestnut trees and pine trees.

Patras is the capital of the prefecture and the biggest city in Peloponnese as well as a major portal to Greece for foreigners because of the harbour. Helmou Skiing Resort, Kalavryta, Vouraiko gorge, Agia Lavra Monastery, Monastery of Mega Spileon, Cave of the Lakes, Aigio town.

Angistri island

Angistri is a small island near Aegina with beautiful sandy beaches and nice tavernas. Angistri is famous for being one of the first places in Greece to experiment with nudist beaches. The beautiful, unspoilt island of Agistri (or Angistri) is just over one hour from the Athens port of Piraeus.

The Cradle of Greek Civilization

Argolida combines natural beauty with important ancient sites. It is close enough to Athens making the area one of the popular weekend getaways for Greeks and foreigners.

The hilly landscape is covered with olive and orange groves and dotted with the ruins of Mycenae and Argos, the first mega-city states of Ancient Greece.
Epidaurus is the best preserved ancient Greek theater anywhere.
Nafplio - the capital of Argolida - the first capital of Greece.

The Switzerland of Greece

When I've discovered the Prefecture of Evrytania I couldn't believe I'm in Greece. At least I didn't expect to see SO much snow! Looking at this picture I remember my life in Alaska but it was... Greece. Wonderful part of Greece!

Sparta

Sparta was considered the greatest military power of antiquity.

All men of Spartan birth had to serve in the army. Boys of seven were taken from their families to live in army barracks. Their whole lives were dedicated to learning the arts of war.

Nafplio

Nafplio is a charming city with a spectacular waterfront, small streets and historic buildings crowned by a fortress that looks over another fort in the middle of the harbor. Nafplio is like a bigger version of the Plaka in Athens.

It's for sure one of the most romantic spots in Greece and being there twice I still want to come there again...
