Everyone has heard about Bethlehem - it is a place where Jesus Christ was born, and it is also associated with other Biblical stories. Currently, it is a part of West Bank, which is under the control of the Palestinian Authoruty. The main attraction is still the Nativity Church, but definitely not the only one. In 2000, the idea was to turn Bethlehem into a major tourist destination, and even big hotels were built, but then Intifada started, and the plans had to wait. Anyway, it is not currently a major tourist destination, but it is THE destination. |
