"Glacier Park - Canadian Style" Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park by mrclay2000

Prince of Wales Hotel Overlooks . . . .

The village of Waterton Park is approached from Montana through some pretty rugged forest, and passes a wildlife viewing and bald eagle nesting area. Speed limits are of course in metric, but most odometers are sub-calibrated so there is no excuse for a ticket!

Though the Prince of Wales Hotel dominates the approach, there are seedier motels clustered nearby that probably should be avoided. There is plenty of parking and plenty of shops and restaurants to spend your dollar. Canadians are quick to accept American money even over their own currency.

It may appear biased, but viewed objectively I found the American portion of the park much prettier than its Canadian counterpart.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Less traveled and visited than other Canadian parks
  • Cons:Scenery a little under the Glacier NP (Montana) standard
  • In a nutshell:From Prince of Wales Hotel, it's all south!

thanks for visiting my pages, I enjoyed the cruise of Waterton Lakes as well, as well as the views on both sides of the border.

We should also note that bear spray should not be used like mosquito spray. 'External use' means shoot it at the bear!

Got a feeling the reason why they confiscate chemicals might have another basis than the one you suggest. But a beautiful taste of what is obviously beautiful country (even on the Canadian side of the border).

Waterton Lake is so serene. I could easily float out there all day fishing & watching nature.

How expensive can this hotel be? I love the picture of the lake!
