Life in a Small Town

At the time of this writing Tecumseh had a population of just over 6,000 inhabitants. A drive through town tends to question this figure, but the more you tour side streets and notice the buildings in the general center, you'll perhaps accept the figure as valid.

On the other hand, Tecumseh is just one of hundreds of small Oklahoma cities that is still hanging on to its "town" way of life. Named after a Native American chief, the city is now typically filled with white gentry. Stop by the feed store, visit along Main Street (if the businesses are open), or check out the football practices at the middle school. . .you'll see from every perspective that Tecumseh is no different than thousands of towns and cities in mid-America.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:A visit will give you a dynamic perspective into rural life in America
  • Cons:No major attractions; not located on or near interstate highways
  • In a nutshell:Stop by for a cup of coffee, a slice of pie and an earful of local lore

Wow, so this is the place where the world's problems are solved! It's always refreshing to visit small town America.

It's these little pieces of Americana that sustain our heritage. The good old days, I hope will never be a thing of the past. Great page!
