Interesting Okarche

Okarche is a tiny town just north of El Reno with a famous restaurant known statewide (Eischen's Bar or Eischen's Chicken). Most of town is quite modest and requires virtually no time to cross. Apart from the chicken joint, there are a few remarkable churches whose spires tower over the village, and a row of million-dollar mansions that seems out of place in this oasis on a dusty prairie.

Historic Kingfisher

Lying about 30 miles north of El Reno on US-81, Kingfisher was once a town of prominence in the Oklahoma landscape, at one time considered for the state capital. Today it is a modest town of 4,300, but with the Chisholm Trail Museum, the Seay Mansion and other attractions probably boasts one of the greatest concentrations of historic wonders throughout Oklahoma.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church

Many of Oklahoma's small towns and cities have wonderful church architecture within their limits, and El Reno is no exception. With a long sanctuary encased in red brick and a booming white steeple higher than most structures downtown, the Sacred Heart Catholic Church also boasts some of the best stained-glass windows in the entire state.
