"A Tiny Town That Makes Some Big Noise" Caney by mrclay2000

Another Kansas Crossroads

Caney lies at the intersection of US-75 and US-166, in other words making it a crossroads, but of what distinction? There are no great rural churches here, and little in the way of historic Main Street. The city park takes up almost as much space as the neighborhoods adjacent. The drive through town requires only a few minutes. So how on earth did Caney merit a huge safari with white Siberian tigers two miles out of its center?

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Small enough you can breeze through in a few minutes
  • Cons:Small enough that the townsfolk will scan your every footstep
  • In a nutshell:One old main drag, a schoolhouse and a safari

Interesting that the schoolhouse has survived all these years--I guess that gives a good indication of how Caney has not ever been in the developer's sights.
