Medieval and Cosmopolitan side by side When you first venture into Prague, you might notice the huge gates that once guarded the walls of the city. On the most conspicuous prominence the huge church of St Vitus beams its welcome from behind a regimental chaperone of government offices and other palatial structures. In between the Old Town Square and Castle Hill is the Charles Bridge, perhaps the most gravitational spot in the city for tourists. Perhaps the best medieval capital in Europe, you can walk amid modern shops and hotels and suddenly immerse yourself in the middle ages. Prague has this enchanting effect like few other cities in the world. |
