    Getting TO/AROUND: Most visitors coming to Venice will use the vaporetto or water taxi service if they stay any appreciable time. Like anywhere else in Europe, you can buy tickets in various increments of time, a single ride, a day, etc. The lines reach most of the important points on the Grand Canal and the major islands of the lagoon.

    P.S. I've seen others on VT say that no one checks the validity of vaporetto tickets, but this was not true in my case.
