While most people visit Concord for the historical references to the Revolutionary War, I went solely to see Orchard House, former home of Louisa May Alcott. While I was there I also made a side trip to Walden Pond, Ralph Waldo Emerson’s home, Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “Wayside” home, and the Old Manse. |

| | Orchard House As soon as Orchard House came into view I knew what it was-even before I saw the sign. It’s exactly the way I pictured it to be. The kitchen, the parlor, the staircase, Jo’s room-it’s just like stepping into “Little Women.” There is a fascinating history behind the Alcott family, mostly having to do with the father who is rarely mentioned in LW, that you hardly ever hear. From going through the tour of the house I felt like an entire book could be written about their family life in general. |
