I have to say, I didn't go to Munich particularly by choice. I had never really heard anything about it and had no desire to visit it. As it so happened, however, it was the midpoint between my journey to Prague. I stopped over for one night and got so hooked that I ended up staying several. Now it is my main hub whenever I fly into Europe. I think it is a very underrated European city. |
| | Why You Should Go 1. Hofbrauhaus: yeah, it's a big bar-but it's a big GERMAN bar
2. Residenz: a really neat addition to the whole German royalty list
3. Pedestrian shopping zone: everything you want on one big cobblestone street
4. English Garden: Central Park in Munich. Just watch out for the area where the naked people hang out.
5. Neuswanstein: it's within a couple of hours of Fussen, an excellent daytrip where you can view the "real" Cinderella castle |

| Pros: | "Lively nightclub scene, good choices of places to eat, central to other towns and countries, cheap places to stay, good base for daytrips" | | Cons: | "Usually not number one on most tourists' itinerary." | | In A Nutshell: | "Try it out. Have a beer. Stay for a day or two. You might like it." |
