It seems like people mostly want to visit the bigger islands in Croatia- Korcula, Hvar, etc. We actually visited Mljet by default because we were in Dubrovnik off season and it was the only island that had a ferry going to it that day. We had zero expectations and sometimes that's the best way to travel. We managed to get around by hitching (the locals were really friendly) although you could rent small cars and scooters. One of the restaurants even served us two hours before they officially opened because we were really hungry and nobody else was open for the season. The island itself reminded me somewhat of Oahu, without all of the beaches. It's definitely worth a day trip if you're going to be in Dubrovnik. |
