I had no idea that Doolin was going to turn out to be the way that it was. Well, for starters, I had no idea that it was going to be as SMALL as it was! But, it was the Ireland of my dreams. The smoky pubs, the green fields, the roaring ocean-it was all there. I was sick for about a week and holed up in the hostel there so I really got to know the town. And all five people that live there. (Just kidding!)
Was Doolin where Tolkien got his inspiration for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy? Who knows. But a lot of the locals think so... |
| | Lots to Do Around the Area Doolin is a great jumping off point to visit the following places:
The Burren
Cliffs of Mohr
Aillwee Caves
Inishere (smallest of the Aran Islands)
Bunratty Folk Park |
