It's more than a hostel. If hostel's had ratings, it would be a 5 star.
Unique Qualities: It's clean, it's organized, and it has a great location. Really, it's more like staying in a small hotel. There's a bus stop right outside and you're within minutes to Temple Bar and Trinity College. I'm not sure I would stay anywhere else even if I could afford it.

Kinlay House Christchurch: Next Best Place To Stay

Both Kinlays that I have stayed in have been good. They're clean, if not somewhat sterile, and always in the middle of things.
Unique Qualities: You get your money's worth here. It's right on one of the main drags and next door to Christchurch. It's a huge place, but pleasant. The staff is helpful.

I wasn't overly impressed with this hostel. It was clean...sort of. Actually, I don't think how much they cleaned it would have mattered since it was such an old building. But the good thing was that it was right mext door to the Busaras station and therefore easily accessible. Oh, and the showers were great. The best pressure I had on the entire trip.

Unique Qualities: I haven't actually stayed at this hostel, but I have stayed at the one in Galway. If you're into pub-hopping and staying out late then this is probably your best bet in Dublin. It's smack dab in the center of the action at Temple Bar, but it's also fairly close to the Busaras and Connelly Train Stations. If you want some quiet at night, though, then I would reccommend the Ashfield House or Kinlay Christ Church, which are still close but not in the middle.

This hostel was built for and by the Paddywagon Tour Company. Paddywagon Tours are aimed at young, college aged kids that like to party, stay out late, and drink. Which is fine if you want to do that as well, but if those things don't interest you then staying in close proximity to the groups can be very annoying. There were many times when I was awakened, ran out of the common room, and ostracized for not being a joiner. While the hostel isn't bad, it probably isn't really for the quieter, older crowd.
