Veteran's Sports Complex

This place has hosted the All-Lankan Basketball Tournament for a few years now. This is a great park and gym. The work out equipment is top notch and the facilites are clean. The basketball leagues are very good, but you have to pay to join. You can join the health club here just like a 24 hour fitness or Bally's.

They have basketball courts, racketball, day care, weight machines, tread mills. areobic classes, day care, everything you can ask for.

This used to be the Clippers official practice facility and they still host a super summer league where stars like Baron Davis, Derek Fisher, Penny Hardaway have been seen.

Address: Corner of 223rd and Moneta

Directions: Between Main St and Figueroa on east 223rd street

Anderson Park

This park is great for Tennis and Basketball players.

The Tennis courts are filled with avid players from morning to afternoon on weekends. Venus and Serena Williams practiced on these courts in their younger days.

You can get a pick up basketball game here almost at anytime. Games don't get that serious but players ranging from ol' vets to new jack highschool ballers come from all around the southside of L.A. for a good run. Courts are always in good shape. But the downside is that there's only 2 full courts, the hoops have double rims and they don't turn the lights on on fridays and weekends. Park & Rec kids' leagues play games on some nights during the spring.

This park has one of the more popular frisbee golf courses too.

You'll see great big family reunions and cook outs from time to time (mmmmm Bar-B-Q).

Equipment: Tennis: need to bring your own balls and rackets. You can usually hock some balls from other people or pick up some people leave behind.

Basketball: a good outdoor ball with your name on it. Don't need to bring your 'A' game, but you might get schooled if you don't bring some skilllz.

Directions: on Wilmingtion ave. between University ave. & Cashdan st.

Victoria Links

This Golf Course seems to be very popular. I see people taking their rounds everyday. The driving range located right across from where the Goodyear blimp is parked is filled even at night (you can watch it take off and land while taking your hacks).

The golf course was once voted the worst golf course in America, but maybe it has improved. The giant golfer statue has changed from a white man to a black man (after Tiger Woods came up) back to a white man after it was painted green for a while.

Address: corner of Avalon and 192nd Street

Directions: Next to Goodyear blimps headquaters. You can also get to it from Main Street off the 110 freeway.
