March is best month to drive the I-5 Information / Sources Review

I have to say March is the best time of year to do the L.A. to the S.F. Bay drive. Usually California looks so brown and dried up, but during March the hills are covered in pretty hues of green. You can even see patches of snow (early in the month) around the grapvine area. The rolling hills you meet from the area an hour before i-5 hits the i-580 to Livermore (where the hills are covered with windmills) are very pleasing to look at. Doing the drive after mid spring is hot and the land just looks burnt. And you have to worry about rain and snow from Nov-Feb. If you can keep a steady speed of 80mph (just keep one eye on the rearview for CHP around Button Willow, Gorman, Kettleman City, Coalinga, and Livermore), it can be a very enjoyable 5 hour drive.
