If you tumbled on this site, or you were one of us, the Vters, I would guess you have at least one hobby/passion as I have: travel. If not, I then welcome you to my travel site anyway. Who knows, you might be one of us soon. Just a warning: once you are infected, it is costly to find a cure :). |
► 2007 - My colleagues raised their eyebrows. Friends commented even more bluntly. It was because they heard the word Middle East, the volatile region where some parts of it are gripped by war, filled with conflicts and it all fueled by hatred, mistrust. In fact, I am more concerned of running into the racist neo-Nazi thugs in some parts of historic Berlin (Germany) city where I am going to use it as a hub to visit Prague (Czech), fly into Paris (France)/ Israel and out from Turkey. And I won’t forget to make an effort to visit the red-rose Petra (Jordan) while I am in this region. *Back home in one piece, safe and sound. Israel came on top for it wonderful and great hospitality. So was Turkey and the food is great too. Post Xmas market is colorful in this beautiful Prague city. Ringing New Year in Paris was something uniquely and unforgettable moments. Petra national park is a must visit. Berlin. it turned out a great experience, but it was freezing cold, much more than I had expected. - Took a short break and off to Toronto, Canada and then headed to Vermont , US to enjoy the spectacular and splendid fall colors. |
. ► 2006 - Greece was not in the plan ( Turkey& Jordan were and I had 2 wks to put this together). However, the trip turned out perfectly although the winter is the "low" season there. After much awaiting, I finally set foot on this very interesting city., London, although it is very expensive. The weather was surprisingly clear and sunny in most of the times although there were few days cloudy and drizzingly wet. The tourist infrastructure was already in place from both countries which makes it so easy for travelers to wander around. |
- This is the year that there have been many president elections in the region which would determine the outcome/stability of this continent, and perhaps, it might affect some of the travelers. Speaking of traveling, my quest for South America continued. Peru and Bolivia were the two main destinations. It was certainly different comparing to my previous South America trip. It was so physically and mentally challenging when travelling solo with a limited Spanish language skill and the high altitude sickness. On the other hand, this is one of another best trip. Along the way, I have met so many wonderful and very friendly travelers as well as locals. I flew into Lima, made my way to Cusco, headed to Puno, crossed into a small and quiet little town Cobacapana , Bolivia. From there I rode bus to La paz and then did the unforgettable 4d/3n spectacular Sala de Uyuni excursion. I then again crossed the border into San Pedro de Acatama, Chile and continued north to Calama/Iquique and Arica. I finally croseed border back into Tacna, Peru and spent last few nights in the white city, Arequipa before heading back to reality :). |
. ► 2005 This is my first taste of South America : Argentina, Easter Island.( Chile), Uruguay. It is very interesting to see this part of the world as well as it culture, and to see how this part of the southern hemisphere views others (travelers). One thing for sure : the Patagonia landscape is stunning and magnificient, or I would say it is a dreamscape. Last but not least, I was kind of "I have missed you" when i arrived back home, but "don't cry for me Argentina". - Canada : It was mixed of raining, sunny but cold. Victoria, Vancouver island, was touristless. It is not small as i thought it would be. The drive from Victoria to Nanaimo took more than an hour. This island has some of the British characters and is certainly deserved a re-visit in the spring.Vancouver city does get the title : the largest Chinatown in North America. The miles long Kingway st (hwy) and it surrounding areas dotted with the Chinese characters from the begin of the street to it end. |
. ► 2004
- Sampling South East Asia: Summer in Asia is hot and humid. Occasionally, the rain did provide some relief. I started from Vietnam, traveled to Siem Reap - Cambodia, flew down to Singapore, took a bus ride to Kuala Lumpur- Malaysia, and finally stopped at Bangkok to fly home. I was tired, exhausted but it was a one month worth trip. Vietnam is a socialist country that opened to the world not so long ago. With it beautiful landscape and friendly people, it has attracted many tourists from over the world. Perhaps, the French speaking has the largest share in the bulk of tourists. Cambodia, for it famous world heritage: Angkor Wat. It was not so crowded with tourist due to the summer season that made everything so easy to tour these magnificient temples.Singapore is truly unique as it slogan: uniquely Singapore. It reminded me much of Hong Kong but in a different way. Kuala Lumpur, a mixed of Hindu, Buddhism and Muslims as well as the Chinese and Malay ethnic intergrated peacefully in a modern city. Asia is truly one most exciting continent. |
.- Spain and Morocco. The two countries are separated by Mediterranean sea. In just 2 hours away by ferry/boat, you can step your foot on 2 different continents : Europe and Africa (North). In addition, the two cultures are so distincly different as well as the religion they are practicing. Spain for Catholics and Morocco for Muslims. And yet, they all have one thing in common : Monarchy system. Spain for parliament and Morocco for constitutional. It was so interesting to experience the totally two different countries back to back. |
