Minneapolis is a city of steel and glass skyscrapers. It is a city of international commerce. It views itself as the last beacon of culture before the barreness of the great plains and the wild west. It feels that its older brother St. Paul is staid maybe even quaint. It is a city of hip college bands and it is the place where in-line skating was born. It is also a city of lakes and parks. Minneapolis had its own Gehry building on the campus of the University of Minnesota long before Barcelona ever heard of his work. And it is the home of the 1987 and 1991 World Champion Minnesota Twins. |

Tugboatguy Thu Jun 7, 2007 09:18 UTC Hi Phil, So, what happened to the infamous Saddle Club strip bar on Hennepin & 5th? & the X-rated bookstore on that corner? Or Jake Juhl's Men's Clothing store on Washington Ave? My brother bought a shiny sharkskin suit there in 1948. Cheesy! Doug | Faracy Mon Sep 20, 2004 20:34 UTC I love that you mentioned the last batiens of seediness. I´ll have to see if they too are gone by the time I´m back. cheers from a Minneapolitan in Spain | craic Wed May 12, 2004 01:00 UTC Fascinating stuff.
