"Old River Town" Jordan by zrim

Jordan Travel Guide: 4 reviews and 5 photos

Jordan is a little-known old river town about thirty miles southwest of Minneapolis. Most of the buildings in the historic downtown date from the late 1800s. At one time the town must have been a thriving port on the Minnesota River. But slowly seems to have faded into obscurity. Just lately it has reawakened as the metropolis of Minneapolis/St. Paul sprawls in all directions. New homes are being constructed like mad on the perimeter of the town. Development--good or bad. I suppose it depends on one's perspective. Ghost towns serve little purpose, but new construction tends to be so functional, but mind-numbing in its lack of imagination.

Pros and Cons

Great 'main street' type shot in the intro, and nice collection of public relics that America's small towns are slowly but surely killing off. . .

Hmm, I expected Wadi Rum, the old town of Petra and lots of Camels ... not the prohibition-time of America ;-)) - funny to see, who easily people loose their way on the VT-map... ;-)))
