Grand Marais Travel Guide: 66 reviews and 98 photos

Depending on your perspective, Grand Marais is either at the edge of the world where if you drive any further down the highway you are likely to fall off the edge into oblivion; or it is the middle of nowhere, a long way from anywhere and you'd have to drive forever to get anywhere much less the edge of the world.

In any event, you have to be determined to get there and once there you will have to determine why it was that you wanted to get there in the first place.

The Lake Superior Trading Post is a very nice store with great products and brands. The store has great gifts, clothing and a complete camping section among many other things.

The "old" East Bay Hotel has been replaced with the newly built East Bay Suites. Vacation condo rentals with a "Superior Experience". Check it out at eastbaysuites.com. You may never want to leave.

Unfortunately, it is now, since January 2006, a completely remodeled condo.

You want the real "end of the world," come to Grand Marais Michigan. I'll be passing through GM next week while on my "circle tour" drive 'round Lake Superior. Sven & Ole's - yeah, shoor, you betcha.

Great sense of humor and nice pages, Phil. We will be in (or at least through) Grand Marais next month. It will be my second visit. Can't wait. Stephen

Like something from a Stephen King novel.
