"Minnesota's Port City" Top 5 Page for this destination Duluth by zrim

Duluth Travel Guide: 307 reviews and 463 photos

Duluth is pretty far north. It is a good 150 miles north of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Often times ice lingers on the lake until May. Summer can't really be said to start until June and it is over by the last week in August. Even on the summer solstice, the temps get down into the low 40s F. Then there are the winters. The winters that never end. Dark, cold, snowy and often gloomy. Yet, on a day filled with sunshine, Duluth is one of the prettiest coastal cities in the world. Trees everywhere. Waterfalls. Beaches. A glorious old lift bridge. Hills to rival San Francisco. If the winter temperatures were not so extreme, I guarantee this city would be at the top of every outdoors enthusiasts list of places to live and play. Come look at my pages and see how glorious a summer's day in Duluth can be.

Duluth was a revitalized port with opening of St. Laurence Seaway in 1959. Spent wonderful week there with cousins in 1946. Uncle coasted all the way to downtown without ever starting the car's engine. Hilly? You betcha! Gr8 vistas. A fine Page! Doug

Hello from Minneapolis, I like your Duluth pictures. I also like the north shore of Minnesota and besides the alps, it is one of my favorite places in the world and go there often. Happy New Year! James

I was in Duluth yesterday (July 1), and the spring lilacs were just at their peak. Duluth makes the U.P. look temperate!

Man, stone-skipping on Lake Superior brings back some great childhood memories for me. I might go up here for Thanksgiving. Great page.

Hehe, only for the reason that Duluth is the birthplace of such American heros, it is great, as your page too... I love Bob Dylan!
