John Hancock Center: Top of the Hancock (almost)
  • Tip Rating:
  • No trip to Chicago is complete without taking the supersonic elevators to the top of the Hancock Tower. Well, almost to the top. The best way to view the sights is to go to the bar which is a floor or two below the observation deck. Virtually the same view, but you can sit down relax, order a $5 coke and take your time. There is no reason to pay the entrance fee to the observation platform, when you can enjoy yourself at the bar for virtually the same price. Although I have not been inside, I understand that the view from the ladies' restroom is the best bathroom view in the world.

Chicago River: The Architecture Along the Chicago River
  • Tip Rating:
  • Chicago Chicago River
  • Wrigley Building

  • Chicago has the most interesting architecture of any large American city. There are Chicago architecture cruises that you can take on the Chicago River. Otherwise get yourself to the river which is at the far north end of the loop or conversely at the south end of N. Michigan Ave. Walk around and look at the Wrigley Building, the Tribune Tower, the Merchandise Mart etc. The best thing you can do for free in the town.

Hi Beth, my "bitter" comments are really sort of meant in a tongue-in-cheek type of way, I guess that doesn't always come across in the written word.

It's obvious that you had a rotten time in law school, and it sounds like you weren't too fond of high school either. Why are you so bitter? Do you hate being a lawyer too? I'm just curious. From Beth Maglietta (by the way, Dave says hi)

The Cubs had a 38-game losing streak in 1952, I think it was, and I haven't set foot in Wrigley Field or any other baseball stadium since then. I agree that everyone should do it at least once, though.
