Acre for acre this small National Park will give any of the big boys (Yellowstone, Glacier, Grand Canyon) a run for their money. The park is filled with neat geothermal phenomona like mud pots, hot springs and fumeroles. Then there is Mt. Lassen peak which is an all-time great hike. I love this place.

Lassen has always been one of those national parks I've wanted to visit. Great page and photos.
You forgot to mention the smell at Bumpass Hell!
That is a fantastic looking place for a hike! It must have been a great day to be outdoors in the sunshine getting some exercise while enjoying such amazing views!
What a great park. And one of the least visited too. Think I'll add this one to my must see list. :)
What an amazing area. Some of it sounds like Rotorua in NZ and I sure remember the smell. Some strenuous hiking here but worth it for the view. What great contrasts.
Fantastic photos and commentary. It was not even on my list for an upcoming California trip...just one more place to visit!
Great page and picts on a wonderful park that i enjoyed tremendously when I went!
Great job! The info supporting the pictures were superb! Thanks a bunch.
Must have been exciting hiking and gorgeous scenery indeed...!; all your NP-pages are excellent and I always highly enjoy them...including this one!!!
