Denali is the best place I have ever been.
Words cannot describe the vastness. The park is the size of Massachusetts. The bus trip from the ranger station to Wonder Lake, the end of the road, takes 12 hours round trip. Then there is the mountain--the largest in North America. Two out of three visitors never even get a chance to see the peak because it creates its own climate, which is mostly clouds.
But there is so much more than the massif. There is wildlife all around. Caribou, moose, dall sheep, grizzlies, wolves. All can be seen without really even trying. Harder to spot are the ultra secretive lynx and the seldom spotted wolverine.
The colors are spectacular. Autumn on the tundra is a sight I will never forget.
Enough of my words. Look at the photos, they will tell a better story of the wonder of Denali. |

Stephen-KarenConn Fri Jul 22, 2005 14:24 UTC Sounds like you enjoyed Denali, and I enjoyed your page, including the travelogue photos. It took me three trips before I saw the summit of Mt. McKinley, but even without viewing the mountain Denali is still awesome. | sue&gene Fri Sep 10, 2004 02:04 UTC We were among the ones who were disappointed. | Manyana Thu Mar 11, 2004 20:22 UTC such a cool, nice, chilly pic of Denali, hope to go there someday:^) | KristaB Tue Feb 24, 2004 10:50 UTC Maybe with sunshine you wouldn’t get such depth and drama of colors. Amazing place. Glorious dusk pictures. |
