"An Amazing City No matter the Time of Year" Venice by zrim

We got on the jet to fly to Europe with some trepidation having just seen video footage of flooding in our destination of Venice. To top off the bad news--weather.com was predicting showers and highs only in the 40s for our entire four day stay.
But we had a blast. The flooding ebbed and waned. Sometimes we got our sneakers wet, but it made for an adventure. The plus side was that we had the city virtually to ourselves. We were able to wander throughout the city and into all the churches, basillicas and palaces without the hassle of being bumped and prodded by other tourists.
Dining was easy because every restaraunt and trattoria and osteria wanted our business. And one day the clouds lifted and we had three or four hours of sunshine.
There is something to be said for traveling in the off-season. Personally, I'd rather have clouds, chills and mist than the hordes that come with the summer sunshine.
- Pros:fabulous place to wander
- Cons:flooding--but can be fun if you have a good attitude
- In a nutshell:everyone should go there once in their life

Nice tip to go there in low season. Didn't know there aren't any bicycles in Venice. Are they forbidden ? Super page.
Venice is Magic! And how lucky you were to have it for yourself because of the flood.I gave up on entering any museum because of the massive lines in February -carnaval time. San Marco deserted and under water looks amazing...thanx 4 sharing
I liked your zrim shots. I will be in Venice for 1 1/2 days via a cruise ship. I will walk, walk, walk, and eat the Venitian cuisine till I must walk, walk , walk again. Thanks for the tips.
truly wonderful pictures, never mind the rain
Venice = Romance... why oh why do I live so far away!? This architecture is to die for! Thank you for so many beautiful examples of it! Greetings from Australia and me!
We'll be travelling back to Venice this November, glad to read your positive spin on roaming this grand city at that time of year. :^) Happy travels.
