Ruse - big bulgarian toun on Danube

Rousse - an ancient Bulgarian borough and a port on the Danube River.
The castle and the fleet station called Sexsaginta Prista were built under the Roman Emperor Vespasianus (69 - 79 A.D.).
An official inscription dated to the reign of Diocletianus (298-299) announces that the fort was restored as a praesidium (a large garrison settlement) after it was ruined by the raids of the Goths (250 A.D).
Now Rousse is a strategic northern gate to Bulgaria as via the Danube River the country is open to Central and West Europe. Two of the Pan European routes have their crossing point here: Corridor 7 and Corridor 9.

Ivanovo - incredible ancient good looks!

Rock-hewn churches of Ivanovo! Located 22 km southwest of Ruse, in UNESCO's list of world cultural heritage, build in the 11th century ( at time of Second Bulgarian empire ).
At all costs must to see!

Get on a mini-bus and visit Tutrakan, about 50 km in the Silistra direction. This is a small town (about 10,000) and it is the lower part you want to see, especially the remains of the old fishing quarter (down from the church, you can't miss it) and the fishing museum, on the main lower street. All these are sign-posted, no worries.

At the bottom of 'fisherman's street' (see it while it's still there, as it now in serious development) you can see the remains of the real fishing community tarring their small boats and fishing in the sunset. This street also contains the only decent restaurant/hotel in town. It is my favorite place in the world, so much so that I bought a house there! But don't bother asking the average Bulgarian about it-- Tutrakan was a no-go area during communism and still one of the country's best kept secrets.
