Hockey Game!

I moved to Calgary one time in search of work and eventually landed in Kananakis just northwest of Calgary. I wasn't into VT at the time and took minimal pictures of anything.

But I did live in Calgary for a month and after moving to Kananaskis I did visit on a regular basis for either work or for good times :-)

Calgary was named by Col. James Macleod of the North West Mounted Police ("the Mounties") after Calgary Bay on the Isle of Mull on the Scottish west coast. It was a port for poor refugees heading for North America.

"Calgary" means "clear running water" in Gaelic, though Calgary Bay was originally called Cala-ghearridh, which translates in Gaelic to "bay-side pasture." The spelling evolved over centuries to become "Calligourie," then "Calligory" and eventually "Calgary".

I was in Calgary in 1999, severl times flying through and again in May 2005.

Calgary is a beautiful clean city with lots of outdoor activities and of course just a short drive away from the Rocky Mountains. I really enjoyed the Calgary Flames versus the Chicago Blackhawks. For more information on a hockey game visit:

The Calgary Tower was cool too although the food cost a fortune and we felt teased :-)

The Calgary Stampede is a world class event I'll always remember and the western look and feel of cowboys and girls!
