Cabin at Burn Point - Goose Bay

Cabin at Burn Point

Cabin Fever

A lot of people in Goose Bay and Labrador in general spend a lot of time at their cabins.

If you have an opportunity to do this, go for it!

It is relaxing and you'll enjoy the great out doors!

This is a summer picture but in the winter with a wood stove burning, fish on the stove, cold beer in the snow bank and your women in the sleeping bag, it can't be beat!! Life is good at these times :-)

Gosling Lake - Goose Bay

Gosling Lake

Gosling Lake

Gosling Lake is located just off of the North West River Highway.

It is a great location for camping or just enjoying the beach and lake.

It is also home to the annual Regatta in August.

View from the Look Out - Goose Bay

View from the Look Out

Muskrat Falls Lookout (Winter)

If you are in the Happy Valley - Goose Bay area during the winter months you have to find a way to enjoy the immaculate winter trails, you just have to.

A recommended half day trip would be to travel about 30-40 km on the groomed trail to the Muskrat Falls lookout. In March and April the weather is beautiful and you'll enjoy the trip! The trial enroute is very scenic, wooded areas and great plateau views.

In the summer time this lookout can be found about 20 minutes outside of Happy Valley - Goose Bay toward Churchill Falls where you will find a sign. Just 4 kilometers of the Trans Labrador Highway to a parking area and just 40 meters then to the lookout. 800 meters further and you are going to see the amazing Muskrat Falls!

Muskrat Falls, Labrador - Goose Bay

Muskrat Falls, Labrador

Muskrat Falls (Summer)

Just about 20 minutes away from Happy Valley - Goose Bay on the Trans Labrador Highway headed toward Chuchill Falls, you will find a sign for Muskrat Falls.

4 kilometers off the Trans Labrador Highway you will find a parking area and some signs.

40 meters in one direction you will find the Muskrat Falls lookout with amazing elevated views of central Labrador.

800 meters in another direction you will find the actual Muskrat Falls. A white water section of the Grand / Hamilton / Churchill River. It is an amazing section of the river where all you will hear is a raging river. Very scenic and you are definitely in the Labrador wild here!

Horse braving the cold in Mud Lake - Goose Bay

Horse braving the cold in Mud Lake

Community of Mud Lake

Mud Lake is a small community about 20 minutes away from Happy Valley - Goose Bay but there is a catch. It is only accessbile in the summer by boat and in the winter by snowmobile.

It is a great little excursion. These community was once into the wood business and now just a small village living a peaceful way of life!

Very scenic and you will enjoy it after the effort!

Ptarmigan Tracks - Goose Bay

Ptarmigan Tracks

Bird Watching

I titled this one bird watching but traditionally in Labrador, most people would bird hunt for a bird called a Ptarmigan or Partridge.

I didn't get one in this picture but plenty of tracks!
