Me eating some food from Jimmy the Greek's. - Ottawa

Me eating some food from Jimmy the Greek's.

St. Laurent Shopping Centre: St. Laurent Shopping Centre

Well not sure what to say about a shopping mall because I am not a fan of them but I did visit this one two evening in a row because it was so close to the Chimo Hotel.

It is your typical mall with food court and a couple levels of stores. I spent money at HMV, Sports Check and Sports Experts but there were lots of stores.

In the food court I ate at Jimmy the Greek and some fine Lebanese place becuase they both had Baklavia. Both meals were great going down but made me feel gross after. I should of just ate something healthier.

There was also a theater in the mall. If you are more into box stores there was a Wal-Mart near by and was about $10 in cab from the St. Laurant Shopping Center but I'll warn you that that Wal-Mart location was the worst I had ever visited for stocked shelves and service.

For example when I asked if they had hockey gloves the guy said no but we have baseball gloves, lol. That will give you some idea and there were a couple of strange situations like that in a very short visit to the store.

Happy shopping!

The Tea Store - Ottawa
The Tea Store: The Tea Store

It was in 2006 that I started drinking tea again then it graduated to Green Tea and on from there. In Ottawa I heard about the Tea Store from the Sweetgrass Aboriginal Bistro where they were serving Inuit Tea.

The Tea Store has over 100 different kinds of tea and are some of the best quality teas found around the world. From China to Kenya , India and Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and lots of tea accessories but I made a special trip there to buy Inuit specific tea.

From time immemorial, Inuit have used tundra plants for medicinal purposes, and much can be learned from their traditional knowledge of medicinal foods and plants.

Inspired by the traditional Inuit blends of tea, the Avataq Cultural Institute has produced five varieties of herbal teas; Labrador, Crowberry, Arctic Blend, Juniper, and Cloudberry to be enjoyed piping hot or icy cold. These blends of tea have been known to have medicinal properties, but it is really their subtle and new fragrance that will enchant you.

I thought it was ironic I went to Ottawa to fine "Labrador" tea. But if you want to try a tea traditional to Canada and our aboriginal people check these out. They are great. I was excited they had a cloudberry tea as well. We call them bakeapples in Labrador!

What to buy: Inuit Tea.
