I also had the pleasure to visit the SkyDome on one trip to Toronto. It is impressive, I have to get back there though for a ball game or some event. The tour is still impressive though and I enjoyed all the old memorabilia from the Toronto Blue Jays world series victories in the early 90s. The building is famous for its retractable roof and the size of the building itself. The entire Rogers Centre development is 12.7 acres, 143,000 square feet of exhibit space on field level, volume inside with roof closed - 56.5 million cubic feet (1.6 million cubic meters), the diameter of the building is 700 feet, the building itself is 11.5 acres (4.66 hectares) and the ceiling height is 310 feet. During the time of my visit the place was being prepared for a Jackie Chan stunt show or something like that, so I didn't get to see the ball field diamond.

Explore the world in one day at the Royal Ontario Museum. With almost six million objects in its collections, the ROM is Canada’s leading international museum. Located in the heart of Toronto, the ROM’s collections span both world cultures and natural history. From my hotel the Four Seasons during this visit the museum was just down the street a short distance so it made for a refreshing and short walk. I was thinking paintings at first but this is mainly artifacts and interpretation. I provide some pictures of the location and a web site that has a tonne of information that will give you all the details. It's fair to say if you are going to really explore this place you need a few hours if you are going to start reading all the stuff. It can be busy there. I visited on a Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. the opening time and the school buses were all lined up and there were hundreds of kids but the place is big enough you can loose them. Enjoy your education at the Royal Ontario Museum!

Right behind the Legislative Assembly building rests one of Toronto's quietest parks. Queen's Park has virtually no recreational facilities other than picnic tables, making it better suited to those in search of a quiet stroll. I got to explore the park a little while trekking from the Four Season's on Avenue Road to downtown at the corner of Front and Bay Street. What got my attention was the size of the squirrel's in this park. They were huge!! If you don't like rodent's it might be a place to avoid, LOL. They were scampering all over the place working away.

CN Tower: World's Tallest Tower

I guess this is an obvious Toronto tip. Defining the Toronto skyline, the CN Tower is Canada's most recognizable and celebrated icon. At a height of 553.33m (1,815 ft., 5 inches), it is Canada?s National Tower, the World's Tallest Building, and the centre of tourism in Toronto. I provided the web site address where you can read much much more on this tower but like ever famous site in a city, you should go up for a look. The day I went to the top it was over cast and I didn't get the good views. The glass floor will freak you out if you are afraid of heights. I walked on it and stuff while a friend jumped up and down. That was a bit nerve racking but there isn't anything to worry about!

The Legislative Building at Queen's Park is a popular tourist attraction for thousands of visitors from Ontario, Canada and around the world. Located in the heart of downtown Toronto and easily accessed by public transit, the building is steps away from other attractions in the core of the city, such as the Royal Ontario Museum and the University of Toronto. I was walking by one cold morning in February 2006 and there was a royal visit from the Governor General so I really go a treat. I also explored Queen's Park a bit and ate at the In Camera restuarant. I created a special travelogue of the Governor General visit. Governor General TravelogueShe was in Toronto to visit with the provincial premier Dalton McGuinty. I was freezing there but was able to get a front row view of all the action and got some great pics. Unfortunately my batteries died and I missed out on some great shots. But this is just another example if you leave on foot you just never know what you will find and experience!

Air Canada Centre: Air Canada Centre - For Canada's National Sports!

I havn't actually been in the Air Canada Centre but I've seen it from the CN Tower and I thought I should add it as a tip because if your not familiar with Toronto or Canada but want to attend a sporting event it will probably be here. This building is home to the famous Toronto Maple Leafs [http://www.mapleleafs.com] and the NBA Toronto Rapters [http://www.nba.com/raptors] as well as the Toronto Rock [http://www.torontorock.com] the Lacrosse team. I want to attend an NBA game at some point so it will probably be in Toronto. You will often hear debate about Canada's National Sport. Hockey versus Lacrosse? Turns out their both right! On May 12, 1994, the following Bill C-212 received Royal Assent and became law: "To recognize Hockey as Canada's National Winter Sport and Lacrosse as Canada's National Summer Sport." This decree is known as Canada's "National Sport Act".The recognition of Lacrosse as Canada's National (Summer) Sport in 1994 is a re-affirmation of the importance of the contributions of the Native North Americans to the development of our society and culture, recognition by the Canadian government of the importance of the sport to this country and confirms our pride in the game that we gave to the world

If you are downtown in the Bay Street area you will find this big building that says the Toronto Stock Exchange and it once was. It’s the old stock exchange and it’s been converted into a gallery. I went in and had a quick look around, got some pictures and left again. Here is the web site though if you want to check it out. I wanted to see the real stock exchange but I was later told there is not a lot to see at the TSX. I guess most things now are on computer and not like the old trading floors we often see in movies and stuff.

Things To Do: St. James Cathedral - Old Town Toronto

This Cathedral is in the old district of Toronto on Church Street. I saw it because it was right across the street from Hostelling International. But other than the architecture being impressive, York’s first church was built there in 1803-07. Apparently the building was enlarged in 1818 and then replaced in 1831. The second church burnt in 1839 and then after that the first cathedral was built there and that too was destroyed, by the great fire of 1849. The present cathedral was begun in 1850 and completed in 1874. So how long do you thing this one is going to last? It’s made it longer than the original’s so someone has intervened I guess. But as for things to do this is right in the heart of old town Toronto which is being continually developed. It's a great area to explore and walk around. I provided a web site address and on that site you can get a great map that is interactive and explains the different districts within old town Toronto and links to other district web sites. You'll enjoy this part of Toronto if you get nice weather like I did.
