  • I really enjoyed my stay here and the food was good. It was a clean hotel. A little far away from the center of Madrid but I don't think you will get the same quality of hotel for the same price at the center fo Madrid.

It's the common trade off you have to decide on all the time!!!

Unique Qualities: Located 30 minutes by bus from Madrid’s center, in the neighboring city of Torrejon de Ardoz, the Hotel Torre Hogar is a 4-star hotel. There is a large meeting room/bar next to reception, and a newly-installed weight room on one of the upper floors. The rooms and the breakfast area are large and also newly renovated. There is a dance club next door, along with shopping in stores along the same street. Access to Madrid center at the nearby train station (about 5 min. walk).

  • The Hotel Mediodia is in a great location and there is problem walking to virtually everything. What you can't walk to, you can get to from a near by train station.

    Nice old style european hotel!

Unique Qualities: Located in the city center, close to El Prado, the Parque de Retiro and the Atocha train station, this hotel has 165 rooms, all with private bath, telephone and TV. The hotel has two elevators and is a typical Spanish style hotel. There’s a nearby large inexpensive Spanish restaurant serving typical Spanish fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Hostal Cruz Sol: Hostal Cruz Sol - Great location.   Check Rates

  • I didn't stay at the Hostal Cruz Sol. I did take a picture of it however because while I walked past it, I couldn't help but think to myself this would be a great cheap place to stay next time in Madrid.

I thought that based primarily on the location. It was right in the center of Madrid very close to Plaza Mayor and Peurta Del Sol.

They have a web site and I think I would probably try it myself next time around. Great location!

Ritz Hotel A Royal Meridien Hotel: Ritz Hotel

  • Inspired by King Alfonso XIII’s desire to build a luxury hotel to rival the Ritz in Paris, the Hotel Ritz in Madrid shares with the Ritz hotels in Paris and London a reputation as one of the original grand luxury hotels in Europe.

The Hotel Ritz opened its doors in 1910 in the presence of His Majesty King Alfonso XIII. The hotel was designed and built under the personal supervision of the legendary hotelier Cesar Ritz, from whom the name was adopted.

The Ritz has played a crucial role in the life of Madrid over the last century. Still today, the hotel remains a key attraction for many to this European capital. Source: http://www.ritz.es

The Ritz was obviously not in my itinerary, darn it!!! But for those with a little extra money in their budget, check it out!

I DID stay there. In fact, the main reason I stayed there was the location (secondary reason...price). It was a nice, inexpensive, clean and basic hostal. The people there were nice, and the café on the ground floor was great.
