View from the mainland... Covered in fog, surrounded by the sea, the Mont Saint Michel is one of the most fascinating places in France. Stategicaly build on the border between Mormandy and Brittany, the Mont-Tombe (original name) developed from a smal abbey to a large Benedictin Monastery. The worship of Archangel Michaël brought millions of 'miquelots' (pilgrims) tp the mount. Nowadays these pelgrims are in the minority, and the tourists come by the millions... |
Parking space in front As you can see, there is a major car park just in front. Not many people today...:) maybe because of the weather conditions. It doesn't matter, the less people the better...! Be careful, by high tide, it is possible certain parts of this park can be closed because they are under sea-level... You don't want to find your car drifting away... |
The Entrance Strange photo...:) No one is on it !! As people go in and out, it is difficult to take a picture where no one is on it. Just a lucky moment...:-) |

Rems Thu Jan 5, 2006 18:15 UTC I discovered a beautiful shop in Mont Saint Michel which sales typical products of Normandy and Brittany. Moreover, the shop assistants are very friendly. This shop is really out of the ordinary... Have a look: www.mont-saint-michel-shop.com | deeper_blue Mon Nov 29, 2004 21:47 UTC great page on MSM peter. One day I will go back. | CALSF Sun Aug 29, 2004 17:20 UTC Haven't gotten the chance to visit Mont St. Michel-yet as it's a whole-day affair from Paris, but someday hopefully I'll go. Nice tip about La Mere Poulard; I've seen it recommended in many guidebooks. | deecat Sat Apr 10, 2004 16:37 UTC Excellent introduction and fantastic travelogues with quality photographs. A wonderful page. |
