Beep! | Sitting in a vintage jeep to Northam |
Shire of Northam is an agicultural district located about 96km from Perth. That will be approximately take an hour to get there. Along the way, one will passby lesser urban areas such as Bakers Hill, Clackline, Grass Valley and Chidlow. Northam can't be found on the local street directory but as long as you hit onto the Great Eastern Highway, that will eventually lead you to the destination. The same highway will also take one to Kalgoorlie (approx. 567kms -> 6-8 hours drive).
Northam has only a small population of 700 people. It is fairly a small town and shops are closed on weekends (except fast food or Booze store and pubs). On the other note, Northam gave me the feeling of being in a old town made up of the 60s era.
There is a well-infomative tourist centre located almost next to the river of Avon Decent. (Alert: White water rafters!) |

australia2 Sat Dec 1, 2007 13:46 UTC Driving in from the Nullabor and points far east, it was the first sort of suburb/unremote country town, and was very welcome ! Good page. :-) | AlexanderScutt Thu Oct 20, 2005 15:37 UTC Okay folks, let's get a few things straight. The Royal Agricutltural Show occurs in Perth. Northam with 700people? Hardly ! It had close to 5000 when I was there in the 80s. Has there been a mass exodus? I doubt it. | irisbe Sun Dec 26, 2004 14:25 UTC Those old vintage cars look wonderful :) what did you bring home from this agricultural exhibition `-) | matcrazy1 Thu Dec 9, 2004 21:01 UTC I would love to join the white water rating or to see those amazing old cars! Lovely page and small, lazy town with some busy events. |
